Sole Gardener required
This opportunity would suit an enthusiastic horticulturist with drive and energy looking to drive this magnificent garden forward. The estate is based just outside of Ipswich, Suffolk and the role is a full time and permanent position.
The 20-acre private estate consists of formal and informal gardens, mature paddocks and woodlands. When approaching the house, there is a large paddock on the right side and 2 small woodland areas with a mixture of species. The gardens to the back of the house are in need of further development and currently contain a formal area, fishpond, lake and flower beds.
The owners have lived at the property a couple of years now and are looking to invest in their garden. They would like to create a couple of courtyards as well as materially improve various aspects of the garden. This position would suit a gardener with drive, inspiration and energy looking to take on a long-term project and take ownership as well as drive their career forward.
Applicants should ideally possess a minimum level 2 Horticultural qualification or equivalent and the ability to work independently in private estate garden.
The appointed person should be self-motivated and proactive with an eye for detail, able to maintain the gardens and grounds to a consistently high standard and have a passion for plants. You will need to competent in using a wide range of horticultural machinery and able to undertake basic machinery maintenance. An interest in organic gardening and composting would also be an advantage. Also, desirable would be PA1/PA6 and CS30/31 spray certificates, but the owners are happy to support the training if required.
SALARY: £28,000 – £30,000 DOE
