An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time Gardener to work within the school grounds surrounding a beautiful Grade II listed building in West London.

The bustling school grounds consist of a large, grassed playing surface housing a football pitch and a number of tennis courts that are complemented by smaller formal gardens and quads, hedges, arches and seating areas surrounded with a mix of raised planted beds, lavender, rose bedding and fruit trees enclosed by a border of mature and established trees.

The suitable Gardener will play an important role in ensuring that the grounds are safe and always maintained throughout the year, continuously developing and improving the visual amenity of the site through new planting plans with a focus on the perennial borders and shrubberies throughout the grounds. Daily tasks will and are varied throughout seasons and as determined by the site manager, including grass cutting, maintenance and winter care, regular maintenance and safe use of machinery and fleet of equipment, initial line marking and over marking pitches to after care including spraying and clearing.

Applicants for this position will ideally hold horticultural qualifications however extensive hands-on experience in a similar setting will be considered. PA1& PA2 spraying licenses and chainsaw tickets are welcome but not essential. For this position a full UK driving license is essential and basic health and safety qualification would be beneficial.

The ideal candidate should have good attention to detail, excellent plant knowledge, pruning and propagation skills. Able to organize their workload effectively proving to be a reliable and effective team player, along with being able to work alone using their own initiative. The successful candidate will ideally have a track record of garden and grounds maintenance with basic machinery maintenance skills, practically minded and energetic with a passion for plants and gardening.

The working hours for this position are from 8:00 to 4:00pm Monday to Friday but may and can be flexible. With benefits including holiday and sick pay and auto enrolment into a pension scheme.

SALARY:        £34,950 depending on experience
