As Manager of Food & Beverage, this role will support the Managing Director with any task needed for the day to day running of the Restaurant and Farm Shop. You will ensure the smooth running of daily operations across the Restaurant and Farm Shop including sales and finance.

Reporting to: Managing Director

Direct reports: Head of Hospitality, Farm Shop Assistants

Day to day duties include:

  • Identify areas of development and growth within the area and create long-term strategies
  • Maximise efficiency, create value for money
  • Streamline operations
  • Supervising staff and providing constructive feedback
  • Mentor and motivate staff to achieve productivity and engagement
  • Management procurement processes and coordinate material and resources allocation
  • Oversee customer support processes and organise them to enhance customer satisfaction
  • Oversee expenses and budgeting to help the organisation optimise costs
  • Review financial information and adjust operational budgets to promote profitability
  • Manage relationships/agreements with external partners/vendors
  • Evaluate risk and ensure all H&S policies and procedures are adhered to

Gardener

A highly motivated and experienced gardener is sought after to maintain and continue to develop the 1.5-acre garden in Swindon, Wiltshire.  This position would suit a presentable and all rounded gardener with demonstrable experience.

The experienced gardener will take responsibility for the general maintenance i.e. mowing, pruning, strimming, hedge cutting, pest control, weeding as well as horticultural practices such as planting, soil and shrubbery, and some enhancement. The 1.5-acre garden includes extensive lawns, a lake, mixed beds and borders and mature and young trees. The garden is newly established, and the landscape architects are currently building a swimming pool.

The gardener will be responsible for the outdoors aesthetics, keeping the gardens to a high horticultural standard as well as mowing and assisting on the wider estate. He / She will be someone who takes pride in their work and is organised. Applicants must above all be hardworking and physically fit, with the willingness to assist occasionally with grounds duties such as racking, fixing fences etc.

The successful candidate will have excellent horticultural knowledge, be fully conversant with planting methods, soil properties, pruning and pest control. Applicants should be comfortable working autonomously, organised, with a good eye for detail, able to carry out work with minimum supervision. Good health and safety knowledge is important, a good level of competency in the operation and basic maintenance of garden machinery and PA1/PA6 is preferred. A full clean driving licence is essential for the role.

SALARY:        Circa £25,000 depending on experience

Sole Gardener

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Sole Gardener to join a beautiful family Estate near Swindon. This role would suit a qualified and experienced gardener with the drive and initiative to maintain a horticulturally diverse garden to a high standard.

The estate’s incredible gardens and grounds have been skilfully restored or re-created over the years. The 10 acres established garden has extensive formal lawns to three sides of the house that are interspersed with mature beds, an ornamental pond and an impressive collection of specimen trees. There is a woodland area, naturalistic garden, kitchen garden, glasshouse as well as a second walled garden surrounding an outdoor swimming pool.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the planting, specialist pruning, soil cultivation and bed preparation, propagation, weeding and lawn care among other responsibilities. Additional assistant will be provided during the spring / summer when it is busiest. Our client is looking for candidates who are enthusiastic, self-motivated, proactive and physically fit. A hands-on approach and meticulous attention to detail are also essential qualities. In addition, the gardener would be willing to occasionally assist with basic non horticultural duties around the estate such as key hold responsibilities, managing contractors and assisting with the dogs.

Excellent plant knowledge and all-round horticultural skills are required, and it would be preferable for applicants to hold a recognised horticultural qualification. Experience of working in a large garden of a similar nature would also be advantageous. PA1/PA6 spraying certificates and chainsaw certificates would be desirable, though not essential as training can be provided if necessary. The owners have investing significantly in a wide range of garden machinery, therefore the ability to operate and maintain a range of garden machinery is essential. A driving licence is required for the role.

A 3-bedroom accommodation is provided onsite for the successful applicant rent free. Council Tax and Utilities are covered by the Landlord. Partners, children and pets are welcome.
